I remember having a glowing turquoise blue cocktail in Los Angeles named "swimming pool" and thinking that this drink does not relate to the colour of any water i had ever seen. I hold my hands up and admit that it certainly does. Here in the Maldives I was actually swimming in that very cocktail and could not believe how magical the colours of nature really are.

Not only is the ocean here mesmerising, but the temperature of the water is like diving into a glass of happiness. Warm, glowing and clear.

The days are hot and humid here but the water is something else.

Swimming here is a challenge as the water is shallow- hence the neon blue, but deep enough that you can do lots of water activities. The best part are the friendly and curious tropical fish that accompany you on your exploration. It`s obvious they love to see new faces. At first they gave me a bit of a fright by touching me as i swam along. After the initial panic that i might be eaten by a yellow polkadot family of fish, I realised they are so at ease with seeing people in their environment that it almost becomes a ritual for them to show you around..

So far I decided that i am NEVER LEAVING!
