Only a few kilometres drive up to the hilltop from my bed and breakfast lies the medieval town of Cortona. There is nothing more fascinating to me than scouring the antique markets of small towns such as this to try and find a unique item with a little history attached to it.
A no car town, there is some walking involved to reach Cortona (all up hill I must add). Luckily they have outdoor escalators which make the process less painful. Once here there are authentic ice-cream shops, restaurants, local boutiques and ofcourse on this day the outdoor market.
The entire town is an antique in itself with beautiful surroundings of the Tuscan countryside visible from everywhere you look. I didn't find any treasures for myself this time, however sitting out in the old piazza with the hot sunshine was treasure enough for me.
Watching the sunset was gorgeous as it dipped behind the green hills for another day to end and preparing for a new one to begin in the morning...
