I have travelled to many beautiful places on this planet and even though I had seen tons of pics on the Bahamas, nothing stood close to actually being there in person.
The colours of the water are literally 50 shades of blue!
I am staying at Staniel Cay Yacht Club which consists of a small number of cottages, one restaurant,
100 local residents and surrounded by an infinity of turquoise. This is truely the place to switch off and allow nature to transport you through her ride of amazement. My first day could not go without a little boat ride to the famous PIG BEACH. (only 10 minutes from my pink cottage).
This tiny island scattered within the Exumas has a residence of ONLY wild pigs who enjoy the everyday visit from newbies. They run, float, swim to you with all their strength to greet you "hello" and in return ask for a little fruit, bread, carrots.. whatever you offer them they will eat just a like pig!
Its a little daunting having a bunch of large wild pigs running full speed towards you. After the initially freaking out, I quickly felt at ease with my new buddies and we chatted away the afternoon. ( Once the food ran out- they dumped me for other more interesting people to chat with)...
Back in the boat and 5 minutes away, found a spot with even more fluorescent blue water. Let down the ladder on the boat as I didn't want to jump in not knowing how deep it was. After grabbing the side of the boat for dear life, I lost my grip and fell into the water. To my amazement ( and embarrassment), I stood up to have the water up to my hips in the middle of the ocean!
Lucky not too many saw the incident just some local fish and birds. :)
